Below you will find a thorough explanation of how the ViewPad 1000 hand-held is typically utilized.
  1. Initial Order-Entry
Actual orders are entered into the Sales Order Wholesale module of Z-Bake that runs on the server in your bakery (your headquarters). The program can accommodate orders that originate from "Forecast" files as well as actual customer calls. Finally, orders entered directly into hand-held devices may also be uploaded to the server the day before scheduled delivery.
  2. Download and Confirmation
The morning of delivery, all orders are downloaded from Z-Bake server to each hand-held device. Driver then reviews the load details on his hand-held, makes required changes and confirms the load before starting his route.
  3. Delivery Confirmation/Invoice Printing
At each delivery site the driver brings up the customer screen on his hand-held, confirms information about the customer, then brings up the actual order and makes the following entries: quantity left over, quantity delivered, quantity returned and any changes to prices and/or discounts. The driver then prints the invoice and gives his customer a copy after the customer signs for delivery approval on the tablet itself.
  4. Estimated Next Day Delivery
Driver then enters estimates for the next day's delivery.
  5. Invoice and Estimate Transferral
Upon return to bakery, completed invoices are transferred to the Accounts Receivable module on the server where Z-Bake resides and the estimated orders are then transferred to the Sales Order module for processing.
  6. Settlement Report Print-Out
Driver then prints the settlement report.

Inventory Scanning

TwinPeaks provides the latest in hand-held computing technology for the baking professional. The Z-Bake software, integrated with a Symbol SPT 1800 portable pen terminal is an unbeatable combination. Hand-held computers speed up your data collection and simplify data management. Equipped with a hand-held palm terminal you can do it all- record Sales, account for wastage, conduct a physical count of your inventory and receive raw materials and packaging items.

The Symbol SPT 1800 combines the strengths of the Palm platform with the latest bar code scanning technology at a very affordable price. Hand-held mobility enables single-handed asset tracking, inventory management and physical data collection with a tool that moves easily from the stock room to the sales floor.

The Symbol SPT 1800 simplifies four essential inventory management functions:
  1. Scanning merchandise sold
  2. Scanning merchandise wasted
  3. Scanning merchandise received
  4. Scanning merchandise on shelf and in stock
In each case a user first identifies himself or herself by entering a user code and password and then selects which one of the four functions is being performed. Then, in each situation the person is asked for a reference number.

In the case of scanning merchandise sold, entering an invoice number would be appropriate. In the case of scanning merchandise wasted, entering a date, time or process ID#, managerís ID# or an internal document number would be appropriate. In the case of scanning merchandise received, a Purchase Order number would be appropriate. Finally, in the case of scanning merchandise on shelves during a physical inventory count, an internal document number would very likely be appropriate.

Next, the user enters the item quantity by touching a numeric pad on the touch screen and then by scanning the item. When all items are scanned, user places the handheld on its base and easily transfers the data via the workstation to the Z-Bake server. There is really no preparation required for the functions mentioned above, other than associating each item with a bar code number (which is a one-time task usually performed at the time of installation) and adding items to the database.

Upload delivery information to Z-Bake. When you have finished entering received items, replace the Symbol SPT 1800 in its cradle. Press the HotSync button to upload the delivery information to your PC (operating Z-Bake). Z-Bake will automatically integrate the delivery record into your company database.
