Sumano’s Bakery is located in Watsonville, California, where it was founded 13 years ago by owner Ray Sumano. The company bakes fresh, natural, and preservative-free bread for grocery stores in the Greater San Francisco Bay area. Every day the bakers make fresh sliced loafs, rounds, baguettes, rolls, and specialty items for dozens of customers. The bakery’s products achieve the highest standard through a combination of quality ingredients and skill.

“Before we started using the products and services provided by TwinPeaks Online,” Ray Sumano explains, “the company was at a loss when our previous custom route system software became obsolete. The company’s bottom line was impacted when drivers had to take extra time making sure deliveries were correct and even then some orders arrived at the wrong locations, impacting customer satisfaction and efficiency. “

“I was familiar with TwinPeaks products because some of my customers recommended TwinPeaks Online bakery management software,” he recalls. “They said it works great and I should look into it.” However, the bakery’s immediate need was for a portable route system, and the handhelds sold by TwinPeaks Online fit the bill. “I discovered that the system covered all of the functions we were looking for in a routing system,” Ray detailed to us. “Also,TwinPeaks price and customer service is unmatched for the products [they] offer, and I would recommend it to any business owner looking to streamline their productivity.”

The routing system that Sumano’s Bakery acquired consists of Z-Bake (the server component) and POMeRoute (the handheld devices and software). Z-Bake software allows management to set up customer, route, and product information from a computer. This information is then synchronized into POMeRoute and contains all the instructions necessary for drivers to make accurate deliveries while taking the most optimal routes.

Ray asserts that the bakery has experienced tangible results ever since implementing Z-Bake and POMeRoute. The software provides a way for them to organize their routes and drivers more efficiently. First, they noticed a decrease in time between their drivers leaving the warehouse to when they returned from deliveries. Second, they saw a “decrease in incorrect products being delivered.” No more mix-ups and confusion for drivers, and no more customer complaints for receiving the wrong package; what more results could be asked for in a product?

With their routing issues handled, Sumano’s Bakery can focus on expansion. Furthermore, Ray believes that TwinPeaks can help them achieve that goal with their bakery management software and its integrated delivery system because the “[TwinPeaks Online staff] is so flexible I’m sure they will try to meet our needs no matter how big we get.”
